How do we teach nonfiction?

 

Before beginning to identify specific solutions, I thought generally about what it means to teach nonfiction. This Padlet includes ideas, notes, and readings. I categorized these strategies and expanded upon them further as I developed a solution. Through thinking and reading, five major strategies seemed to emerge: exposure to cultivate interest, developing "slow reading" habits, scaffolding, relating fiction to nonfiction, and teaching valuable vocabulary.
